WSD-30B is a PID controller with a DC powered, low noise heating plate for animal research. It allows researcher to maintain the animal's body temperature at specific temperature while recording the signal that they are interested in. The output voltage of the controller is 12 VDC. This low voltage reduces electric noise generated from the heating current. This controller uses a thermistor type of sensor that offers higher sensitivity and precision than the RTD and thermocouple sensor based controller. The shank of the probe is 2.0 mm in diameter. The tip has a 3.0 mm barb for holding the probe in the animal. It is suitable for both mice and rats. The heating pad is carefully grounded and shielded to eliminate any residual EMF interference when recording small signals. The heating pad also contains a precise sensor that limits the maximum surface temperature of the pad so that animal will not be burnt due to the hot surface. The setting for the maximum surface temperature limit can be adjusted and viewed by user. It increases the flexibility of the system to fit different experiment requirements.
