Product update: Tri-clamp sensor option is offered for this controller. The probe length is 4". The diameter of the tri-clamp flange is 1.988" (or 50.5mm) . It works with all tri-clamp systems that use this size flange, including 1", 1 1/2", 25 mm, 33.7mm and 38 mm system. (In other words, 1", 1 1/2", 25 mm, 33.7mm and 38 mm system have the same flange dimension.)

This temperature controller has one output for cooling control and another for heating control.  It can be used for applications such as beer fermentation or convert a refrigerator to kegerator. By using both cooling and heating devices, the refrigerator can be controlled at specific temperature regardless in hot summer or cold winter.

This controller is a plug and play controller. No wiring is needed for the heater or cooler.  Both the heating and cooling control modes are simple on/off control, similar to a mechanical thermostat but with much higher precision due to adjustable hysteresis band, precision sensor and digital read out.  Anti-short function is provided for cooling to protect the compressor from being turned on with high pressure Freon.

Unlike other similar priced two stage controllers on the market, a digital silicon band gap sensor is used rather than a cheaper NTC or PTC thermistor sensor.  The advantage is being much more reliable in moisture environment than thermistor sensor. It can be immersed over extended period of time. It also has a more uniform accuracy over an entire specified temperature range. In addition, the cable of free hanging sensor comes with food grade silicone insulation, as compared to PVC jacket used on most of other sensors on the market. Silicone is safer than PVC for food application, especially when immersed in the solution that contains alcohol, because the flexible PVC contains plasticizer that is easier to leach out in alcohol. Silicone will withstand higher temperature also. The cable of tri-clamp sensor comes with two layers of TEFLON insulation that is very strong and weather resistant. The braided cable added an extra layer of metal braid between the TEFLON layers for more protection.

Note:
  • The controller can display temperature unit in Celsius or Fahrenheit.
  • Unlike the PID controller we sell, this on/off controller will not hold the temperature as tight if the system had very slow and delayed response. Some temperature overshoot is normal.
  • Either the heating or the cooling device is limited to 10 Amps. The output voltage is the same as the input voltage.  When the controller is plugged into 120V AC, the output will be 120VAC. If the controller is connected to 240 VAC, the output will be 240VAC also.
  • The input power plug is a US NEMA 5-15P plug. The output sock is a US NEMA 5-15R socket. Optional input & output travel plug adapters are offered. Please check here for more details.
