The TD230 is a plug-and-play differential temperature controller that can be used to achieve or maintain a fixed temperature difference between two different locations or chambers. Several typical applications are: solar water heater control, drying oven temperature control, or basement anti-condensation temperature control.
Features: This controller uses two temperature sensors and controls its outputs based on the temperature difference between the two sensors (dT). It has two independent outputs, one for cooling and one for heating. The cooling output is used to prevent dT from exceeding a specified range, while the heating output is used to prevent dT from falling below a specified range. The operating ranges for the cooling and heating outputs can be set independently. Once the cooling range is set, the controller automatically limits the allowable heating range to prevent the heating and cooling outputs from being turned on at the same time.
This controller is a plug-and-play controller and requires no wiring. Both the heating and cooling control modes have simple on/off control, similar to a mechanical thermostat but with higher precision due to an adjustable hysteresis band, precise sensors, and digital readouts. The controller also has an anti-short-cycle function for the cooling output to prevent frequent compressor cycling and protect the compressor from excessive refrigerant pressure.
Two digital silicon band gap sensors are used. The advantage of this sensor is that it is more reliable in moist environments than thermistor sensors. This digital sensor can also be immersed over extended periods of time. They also have more uniform accuracy over the entire specified temperature range.

Note:
- The controller can display the temperature unit in Celsius or Fahrenheit.
- Unlike the PID controller we sell, this on/off controller will not hold the temperature as tightly if the system has a very slow and delayed response. Some temperature overshoot is normal.
- Either the heating or the cooling device is limited to 10 Amps. The output voltage is the same as the input voltage. When the controller is plugged into 120 VAC, the output will be 120 VAC. If the controller is connected to 240 VAC, the output will be 240 VAC also.
- The input power plug is a US NEMA 5-15P plug. The output sockets are US NEMA 5-15R. Optional input & output travel plug adapters are offered. Please check here for more details.
