This is a lab instrument grade project box designed for applications that need a portable control box to be used on a bench or a tabletop. It has enough room for assembling a control box with a few essential parts for a 30A 240VAC control box: a PID controller; a solid-state relay that needs to be mounted on an external heat sink; a few power input and power output sockets; a probe socket; and a few switches or indicators.
The body of the box is made of 1.2 mm thick powder-coated steel. The top of the box has a rectangular pre-cut knock-out hole (70 mm by 55 mm) for an optional 40A heat sink and four round knockout holes for mounting the heatsink. There are also knock-out holes to install a pair of long handles. The front panel has 4 pre-cut knock-out holes for installing a pair of short handles. There is enough area on the front panel for a 1/16 or a 1/8 DIN controller and a few switches. The back panel provides sufficient surface area for mounting one pair of 240V 30A power inlet and outlet, and a few 120V sockets and sensor connectors. The bottom of the box is installed with 4 rubber feet.
The box opens from the bottom by removing the bottom plate. This makes it easier to inspect or to work with the solid-state relay mounted to the heat sink.

The aluminum handles and the heat sink are optional. If you choose to purchase the handles or the heat sink, mounting screws will be provided. There are pre-cut knock-out holes on the box to match the handles and the heat sink.
