Digital Power Regulator and PID Controller with Timer (for SSRs)
[DSPR-5]

I really like the single control knob instead of the membrane buttons. I am using the DSPR-5 to control the temperature of a pellet grill. To control the igniter, I am using a normally closed Thermostat Temperature Switch KSD301 10A 45 C/113 F available from Ebay. To avoid creating a huge plume of smoke and a lot of integrator windup, I am using this startup sequence: 1. Turn on power. 2. Rotate control knob counter-clockwise to the Percent Zone and select 15%. 3. Wait about 5 minutes until the temperature is above 150 F. 4. Rotate control knob clockwise to the Temperature Zone and select desired temperature. Overall it takes about 15 minutes to get the pellet grill up to 600 F. Duty cycle at 600 F is approximately 22%. Maximum duty cycle during startup is approximately 46%. Here are my settings: Auger Speed = 5.3 RPM P = 1,000 I = 350 D = 0 T = 10 OutL = 2 OutH = 60 mSV = 600
