This thing is awesome. I use it to make steam in a boiler for essential oil distillation. The wiring was really straight-forward. I used the Auber 40A SSR and a 6500 watt ULWD heating element. I put it in an old outdoor industrial intercom box; adding an external heatsink.

Definitely download the instruction manual as the UI can be a little confusing at first. But after a few uses, I've got it figured out and don't need the instructions.

I really love the simplicity of turning a dial to control the boil rate. Response is immediate, granular and consistent. I also think I will make use of the timer function (ramp up full power, then steady boil at a set percentage for a set time). This build was an upgrade from a simple on/off switch and is already far and away better. For my next build I will probably go up to the DSPR300 for the additional alarm and relay functions (to flash lights at program intervals and/or power additional warm-up elements). I've tested the temp control function and can say it works really well; better (and much simpler) than a previous PID I used. It's tricky to hold temps around boiling and this controller did it within +/- 1 degree F. I did have to adjust the temp sensor within the controller by +12 F but I think that's because I added several feet of cable. I already had the temp probe, otherwise I would have bought the Auber kit with longer cable and xlr connectors. I ended up using old USB cables for the temp sensor connector at the control box.
