This thermometer is one of the most economical RTD probe-based thermometers on the market. It can be used to measure temperature in both liquids and air.
The platinum RTD probe offers accuracy comparable to that of a thermistor sensor, but with a wider temperature range, better stability, and significantly better reliability in moist or high-temperature environments. Compared with a thermocouple, it provides higher accuracy but has a narrower temperature range. Most lab-grade, high-precision thermometers use platinum RTD sensors.
The probe (PT100S) is constructed with a 304 stainless steel sheath, epoxy sealing, and a fluoropolymer (PFA) cable. It can be completely immersed in water and most organic solvents. Due to its small thermal mass, the probe can also be used for air temperature measurement. Its response time in still air (to 63.2% of the final temperature) is approximately 60 seconds.
The thermometer features a programmable high/low temperature alarm that activates an LED indicator and a buzzer when the temperature exceeds the high alarm setting or falls below the low alarm setting. It can also record the maximum temperature and the time at which the maximum temperature occurred.
The temperature unit can be set to either Celsius or Fahrenheit, and the display resolution can be set to either 1° or 0.1°. The accuracy is better than 0.2°F at 104°F. The thermometer can be calibrated by the user to compensate for system measurement errors.
The meter is AC-powered for continuous 24/7 operation. The power adapter has a 3 ft cable.
